“Obama to Seek Sweeping Change in ‘No Child’ Law”

“The Obama administration is proposing a sweeping overhaul of President Bush’s signature education law, No Child Left Behind, and will call for broad changes in how schools are judged to be succeeding or failing, as well as for the elimination of the law’s 2014 deadline for bringing every American child to academic proficiency.”

My only concern is that there will be changes made to the law…instead of the law being destroyed all together.  It’s noble that “the administration is not planning to abandon the law’s commitments to closing the achievement gap between minority and white students and to encouraging teacher quality”….but I think they ought to just start over with the whole thing.

As a product of the United States’ public education system from kindergarten through my last semester here at college…I can’t say they’ve done wrong by me. But many things could have been better. Hopefully I can help with this in the future like my mommy!
